RTR's Puppy Contract
- The Buyer shall notify the Breeder immediately if the dog cannot be kept by the Buyer.
- The dog shall not be sold, transferred, or given to any individual or to any retail or wholesale establishment for the purpose of sale or resale to the public or to any research institution where medical experimentation or other practices take place.
- Your puppy is being sold to its “forever home”. If in the event you can no longer provide/care for your puppy/dog for unforeseen reasons OR you are unable to abide by this contracts requirements, you as the Buyer are required to return the dog to RTR. All AKC papers, veterinary records, and microchip information will also be returned to RTR. All shipping costs are the Buyer’s responsibility. No cash/money refunds will be made of any kind.
- The Buyer and Breeder agree to keep each other informed of their current addresses.
- The Buyer agrees that it is the Buyer’s responsibility to accept the dog as described. The Breeder has provided and the Buyer has acknowledged a full disclosure of the health, habits, and temperament of the dog. The dog’s health records will be supplied at the time of purchase.
- After eight weeks and for the life of the dog, the Buyer may return the dog to the Breeder at any time and for any reason.
- The Buyer agrees to sign the necessary papers to return the Breeder as sole owner of the dog in the event that the dog is returned.
- The puppy must be registered with the AKC before one year of age.
- RTR’s health guarantee will expire once your dog reaches 30 months of age. Our health guarantee covers hips, elbows, and eyes. All genetic diseases have a lifetime guarantee. Hips must receive an OFA score of less than “fair”.
- Our health guarantee, if needed, will guarantee that you will receive your original payment for your puppy or you shall receive another puppy at no cost.
- RTR’s puppies come with LIMITED registration. This means that there are NO BREEDING RIGHTS FOR THIS PUPPY. The status of limited CAN be switched to FULL (which means you may breed the dog) IF:
- the dog is over the age of 2 years old
- all proper health clearances are acquired prior to breeding
- proof of health clearances is sent to RTR (this includes OFA hips/elbows/eyes and a full genetic Labrador Retriever recommended panel)
- 100% dilute free breeding (no breeding to silver, charcoal, champagne, etc)
- The stud of choice is pre-approved by RTR (to ensure dilute free, health tested lines).
- If this dog is bred without the approval of RTR (on the basis listed above) the Breeder will require the return of the dog to RTR. Any dog with Red Tide in its pedigree is a direct reflection of us.
- If you decide to spay/neuter your dog, these procedures are not permitted until 18-24 months of age. Failure to comply will forfeit the 30 month health guarantee.
- Buyer will take all measures to maintain the health and well-being of the puppy for as long as the Buyer retains ownership. Veterinarian visits on a regular basis, following all recommended immunizations, heartworm, and flea/tick control. The buyer will provide a good home which includes warm and dry bedding with good protection from the elements/weather, regular exercise, affection, proper nutrition, and health care for the puppy. The weight will be maintained at a normal amount for the size of the dog. If the Buyer does not provide these items, the Breeder may require the return of the puppy.
- RTR reserves the right to refuse to sell to any home where the dog will be chained outside. Proper lodging/enclosure/care is of utmost importance to us. By signing this contract, the Buyer agrees to treat this dog as one of their family members.
